Cookery Club has been lots of fun this term. We made a variety of different things, we somehow managed to make many, many more sweet bakes than savoury, mostly due to my ‘sweet tooth’. None of the children complained about this though!

Some of our bakes were more successful than others. Our most favourite bakes were the ones where we didn’t really follow a recipe, but took a more throw it all together and see what happens approach. Like an edible science experiment.

The children became a crack cleaning team for clearing up after our cookery sessions, sometimes known as flour explosions. Special mention has to go to the child who decided to give up chocolate for Lent, and resolutely stuck to her Lenten fast despite being faced with a lot of chocolate in our bakes.

Here are a few pictures of one of our bakes. Unfortunately, I only managed to take pictures during this session, as I was stood oven gloves at the ready on ‘whipping things out of the oven’ duty and the children were far too busy sampling their ingredients! Because as every good chef knows, it is important to check the quality of your ingredients before you start cooking.
