Year 4 have had an exciting week in English! They were engrossed in our current book The Barnabus Project, a story about Barnabus, a half-mouse, half-elephant rejected by the `Perfect Pets` shop for not being "perfect." Outraged by this idea, the children passionately agreed that everyone is unique and that our differences should be celebrated. After all, the world would be dull if we were all the same! Inspired by this message, they then designed and sculpted their own imaginative and unique hybrid creatures from plasticine. We now look forward to planning and writing non-chronological reports on these fantastic creations in the upcoming lessons.

We`ve had an absolute blast this half term holiday at Breaside Adventurers! Every day has been packed with fun activities and new challenges. Whether it was conquering the climbing equipment, stretching into yoga poses, dancing up a storm, unleashing our creativity with arts and crafts, or enjoying outdoor activities, the fun never stopped. It`s been amazing to see everyone push themselves, bond with friends and have fun along the way!

Year 2’s week got off to a wonderful start with a delicious baking session inspired by the book Possum Magic! In our English lessons, we read about the characters enjoying Anzac biscuits in Adelaide. While a trip to Australia wasn’t possible, we brought the experience to life by baking our own Anzac biscuits using tasty ingredients like rolled oats and golden syrup.
The children eagerly got involved, not only whipping up their treats but also practicing their instruction-writing skills. In the afternoon, they enjoyed the fruits of their labour, tasting their homemade New Zealand and Australian biscuits.
The verdict? "Best lesson ever!"

Exciting news—our ukuleles have arrived, all thanks to a generous donation from Friends of Breaside! This fantastic little instrument is perfect for introducing students to chords and harmony, key skills they’ll build on in Year 7 music lessons. Our Year 6s have already dived in, mastering some simple chords and are looking forward to strumming along to their favourite songs. Check out 6D in action as they practice C, F, and A minor to the beat of Imagine Dragons` hit song Thunder!

On Friday morning, we were thrilled to witness a dazzling performance by one of our incredibly talented Year 6 pupils! He treated both our Infant and Junior students to a spectacular showcase of four ballroom dances—waltz, rumba, tango, and jive—leaving everyone in awe of his grace, skill, and showmanship. The audience was spellbound, bursting into applause as he wowed us all with his poise and confidence on the dance floor. After the performances, he visited several classes, where curious and excited pupils couldn’t wait to ask him questions about his dancing journey.
A heartfelt thank you to our Year 6 dancer, his amazing dance partner and teacher from United Dance Studios in Orpington for bringing a touch of ballroom magic to Breaside. What an inspiring and unforgettable experience for us all! Strictly Come Dancing well and truly landed at Breaside, and it was all 10’s from us!
